Low Carbon Travel is walking, cycling, public transport or car-pooling. Private motor travel is one of the main sources of CO2 from transport. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has concluded that climate change will pose serious challenges to human development and sustainable development, and our focus should be on limiting or preventing greenhouse gas emissions.

We must act to mitigate the worst effects of human induced climate change and contain the average surface Earth temperature to within 2° celsius of pre-industrial levels. As part of the response urgently needed, it is imperative that developed countries lead the way in changing to low carbon travel.

One of the ways that each of us can help reduce the climate change threat can be as simple, practical, and economical as choosing to walk - or cycle - rather than drive.
